FAQs

Should I report this to my own insurer?

Yes, everyone has a duty to report all incidents whether fault or non fault. This can be for information purposes only. This should not affect your policy however this is something you should discuss with them.

Will I have to pay anything?

The only cost to you may be a small refundable deposit of £1 if a hire vehicle is required. You will not be liable for any other costs. All our services are at No cost to you.

What if you or your passengers were injured?

It is natural after an accident to feel shaken up. Personal injury is where someone experiences physical pain, commonly in their neck and back, perhaps with associated headaches, or you may have a pre-existing injury which has been made worse. If you or your passengers are suffering with injury following the accident there are a number of ways we can help you. We can arrange treatment, instruct an independent medical examiner to assess your injuries and one of our team can discuss compensation with you.

Will I have to pay anything?

The only cost to you maybe a small refundable deposit of £1 if a hire vehicle is required. You will not be liable for any other costs. All our services are at No cost to you.

Who can I contact for advice?

The Association of British insurers will be able to provide advice. They have a useful guide on their website in relation to third party assistance. You can view it here

What are my other options?

You may be considering obtaining a replacement vehicle from your own insurers or have been approached by a credit hire company. If you proceed through your own insurance there may be an excess to pay and your no claims discount may be affected. With car hire companies there may be hidden charges and inflated rates. Make sure to read the small print as you may be liable for any costs not recovered from us.

Hire Car

Who will provide my hire car?

Our main supplier of hire cars is enterprise rent- a- car. Our hire providers will call you to arrange your hire vehicle at a time and from a location that is most convenient. Please contact us if you require full terms and conditions in relation to the hire vehicle.

Will there be any charges?

The hire car will be free of charge however some providers will take a £1 deposit via a swipe of a debit or credit card. This is purely in case of any speeding tickets or parking fines that may be received whilst you are driving the car. There will be no other charges and no credit agreements or contracts to sign.

Are there any restrictions on the amount of miles I can drive?

No mileage restrictions apply.

What is the position in respect of endorsement?

Enterprise consider endorsements on a case-by-case basis but will generally refuse hire at 9 or more points.

Who else can drive the hire car?

If you have additional drivers on your own policy then you would be allowed to add the same to the hire vehicle at no extra charge.

Who will insure me while I'm driving the hire car?

If you have additional drivers on your own policy then you would be allowed to add the same to the hire vehicle at no extra charge.

What is the excess on the insurance policy?

The excess for the hire vehicle mirrors your own policy excess. Excess waiver cover is available at the claimant’s own cost, the cost of which would depend on the excess to be waivered.

What is the excess waiver I am being offered?

All hire providers will recommend you to take out a collision damage waiver (also referred to as an excess waiver) with them. This will reduce any applicable excess to nil, however this waiver can be charged at between £5.00 and as much as £50.00 per day, inflating the daily cost of the hire vehicle even further above the base daily rate quoted. We would like to make you are under no obligation to purchase this product directly from the hire provider.

Vehicle Repair

Our Approved Repairer

We have a comprehensive network of approved repairers. Our repairers all have authority to start work straight away (as long as the vehicle is deemed repairable). They will arrange collection and delivery if required and will return your vehicle washed and vacuumed after repair.

Our Guarantee

Our approved repairer will provide a 5 year guarantee on repairs.

Manufacturer's Warranty

If your vehicle is still within the warranty period, any repairers carried out by our Approved repairer will not affect this on the basis that repair methods will follow those specified by the manufacturer.

Non Approved Repairer

If you would prefer to use a repairer of your own choice, we would require a detailed estimate along with images to support. These would need to be sent into us so our in house engineers can authorise before any repairs are carried out to your vehicle. We have not approved the garage therefore are unable to control the repair speed and quality of workmanship.

If my vehicle cannot be repaired can I keep it?

If you would like to retain your damaged vehicle and it is safe to do so, we will deduct the salvage value from any payment made. Industry databases will be updated to reflect that the vehicle has been the subject of a write off.
